Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) is the acetylated version of the naturally occurring amino acid L-carnitine. Recent attention has been placed upon ALC's ability to increase the number of neurotransmitter receptors in the brain that normally decline with age. As such, ALC is being used in combination with other Nootropics to treat senile dementias. ALC has also been shown to help remove the ceullular waste product lipofuscin from the brain. This translates into improved mental functioning. Acetyl-L-Carnitine helps transport fatty acids into the mitochondria thereby lowering blood fats and reducing body fat. "I've learnt that ALC is particularly effective when taken with the synergistic combination of Centrophenoxine and Piracetam." |
